F40 is overrated. 288 GTO is where it’s at as best looking turbocharged Fezza!!
Ready ^_^

Sorry to disappoint, but I agree.

I don’t desagree, the 288GTO has always been my favorite Ferrari of all time.

I too agree that the 288 GTO is better looking than the F40, also quite a bit rarer.
Ferrari Supercars ranked: 1) F50 2) 288GTO 3) LaFerrari 4) F40 5) Enzo

Well due to rarity, the 288 will likely always be worth more than the F40, so it’s got that going for it.
I love both. I love the F40 more, but I can’t say I blame anyone for liking one more than the other.

I will agree with you, The GTO is definitely better looking.
But I will take the F 40 any day , Over any other car ever.

Admittedly, the F40 does look awkward from more than a few angles. I still love them.

I absolutely respect the F40, but I don’t lust after it as I do the 288.

100% agreement, although I might say it’s the most attractive Ferrari of all time, turbocharged or not; the 250 GT Lusso comes close, but that’s a pretty car as opposed to the raw aggression that is the 288. The best looking F40 is the LM which doesn’t have the dorky lights of the standard version, but it’s still not as good looking as the 288. If we limit it to turbocharged cars, I might say the 126C2 since I was a big Gilles Villeneuve fan back in the day.
Even though I love the GTO, a couple of subtle mods would make it look better. The scoop at the bottom of the door looks somehow incomplete and ill-proportioned, and the mirrors are a bit much. Other than that, it takes the beauty that was the 308 GTB and ramps it up a notch, with the extended wheelbase really improving the proportions and the quad lights up front further improving the look.

288GTO is underrated. I don’t know that I could choose between that and an F40.

i’ve seen them both in life. While I can appreciate the timeless looks of the 288...it looks like a 308 GTB. a F40? aint NOBODY mistaking that for anything else

Having seen the best example of a Ferrari F40 of all time (won Pebble Beach out of 40 AND was bi-weekly driven because he had 4 other ferraris and a Carrera GT) and sat in one. No. The F40 is sacred.

I couldn’t agree more. I’d go as far to say best looking car from the 1980's. Love the 288 GTO.

unpopular but true - 288 GTO is less crazy but still one of the best looking Ferraris.

Wrong. Best looking turbo Fezza is actually a Buick GNX.

I had this poster on my wall before the F40 was a thing. 288 all the way.

I actually agree completely... on looks alone. The F40 is still the superior car overall tho

I’m not saying you’re wrong.....but you’re not. You are technically correct. Seeing them next to each other at the Lingenfelter Collection further cemented my opinion of this.

The GTO is better looking, yes!
Better driving? Anyone out there willing to help me find out for myself?
![]() 02/12/2016 at 18:09 |

Actually, I think many will agree.
The F40 was Enzo Ferrari’s ultimate statement. A race car for the road. It was not designed to be objectively beautiful, but its race car design was revolutionary at the time and had a huge impact.
The GTO was a racing evolution of one of the most beautiful creations of all time, the 308 GTB. The body is practically a widebody 308 GTB. The GTO’s roots are in road cars.
